Project Overview
GroovExe was created during ISART Game Week, a game jam built around the theme of “Print.” The team explored the idea of digital footprints through a rhythm game in which a hacker protects her own data while breaking into other people's information.
Its audiovisual identity draws from Y2K aesthetics. The game is controlled entirely with the keyboard: every action follows the rhythm of the music and directly shapes how the game feels.
Audio Integration
Unlike my other Unity projects built with FMOD, GroovExe uses no audio middleware. The integration was developed directly in C# within Unity. This constraint moves the rhythmic logic into the game code rather than an external authoring tool.
Production
The project was designed and delivered in four days by a team of ten students across art, programming, sound design, and game design. It received the Best Sound Award and the Student Choice Award. The Windows build is available for free on itch.io.

Notes
- No middleware: all audio logic is integrated directly in Unity through C# scripts.
- Keyboard-only interaction: player actions follow the rhythm without relying on a mouse or controller.
- A short production cycle: the game was designed and built in four days by a team of ten students.
