Breaking a curse
Brew First, Ask Later is a 3D Unity game made during Game Jam CStudio 2026, around the theme “Le choix n’arrive qu’après” (“The choice only comes afterwards”). Our team had seven members for the 48-hour jam.
You play a cursed little witch, equipped with her cauldron and the plants around her. Gather ingredients and experiment with combinations: depending on what you collect, potions grant powers or drawbacks. Discovered recipes are recorded in a grimoire, with the goal of lifting the curse.
Playful fantasy music
I composed the music using the sounds of traditional instruments such as lute, mandolin and harp. I wanted a mystical fantasy world that still felt playful and cheerful. This musical palette accompanies a casual game designed for short sessions of around five minutes.
The original soundtrack is available on SoundCloud.
From recordings to the game
I recorded every sound effect, including sounds for the cauldron and potions. I also recorded instruments, including guitar and ukulele. These recordings provided the raw material for my sound design.
I then integrated the audio in Unity with FMOD and C#, connecting sound creation to its implementation in the game within the jam's limited timeframe.
A game delivered in 48 hours
The game is available on itch.io and won the polish prize at Game Jam CStudio 2026.
