A Lua/ReaScript cleanup tool that moves selected media items to the start of their tracks while preserving order and avoiding collisions.

Problem

Long sampling sessions can leave useful items spread across a wide timeline. Before editing or exporting, I often need the same boring cleanup pass: move selected items to the beginning of their tracks, keep multiple items from the same track in sequence, and avoid placing new material on top of existing material.

What the script does

Starting Grid takes the selected REAPER items, checks which track each item belongs to, and places them at the start of their respective tracks. If multiple selected items share a track, they are arranged sequentially instead of stacked on top of each other. If something already exists at the beginning of a track, the script places the moved item after it.

Why it matters

The tool is intentionally narrow. It does not try to become a full session manager. It solves one recurring production problem quickly, which is exactly where small audio tools are strongest.
